The Semester in a Paragraph

This term in journalism, I feel as if I have gained more from the class than majority of other classes could teach me. Not only have I learned how to critically analyze news stories, but I have properly learned how to write a news story using journalistic elements. Continuing on, analyzing news stories from a different perspective has allowed me to properly identify things such as bias, improper leads and headlines, and other things such as improper structure to the story. Other things I have gained from this class was how to properly interview people to gain information out of them without making them incredibly uncomfortable or how to sell specific things to businesses. Selling things such as ad placements for a yearbook to businesses is now a breeze for me and now that I have the knowledge on how to dress, what to say, and how to sell it.
Not only have I gained a great amount of knowledge from this course, but I have also given some things in return. To start off, as a journalism student I feel as if I have been a critical member of the journalism team; things such as writing the news for the football games has been almost my full responsibility alone. Along with writing the football stories every week, I have tried to take part in photography of sport and other events as much as I possibly can. As well as writing for the team, I have also sold my amount of ads for the yearbook to allow them to be sold at a cheaper price.
